General Information and Academic Administration



The structur of organization in USJ-R Junior High School



1. School Profile
    USJ-R is one of the best University and School in Cebu city, Philippines. In addition to having a good ranking in Cebu city, USJ-R has complete facilities. USJ-R have two campus in Cebu city: the main campus in Cebu South Road and the other campus Basak Pardo but the location have a same city, Cebu. I got opportunity to learn more in USJ-R Basak Campus because on Basak campus specifically for those who majored in Education. USJ-R Basak Campus is located at Basak Pardo, Cebu city, Philippines and in Basak Campus have school from kindergarten until Senior High School and I got a chance to handle grade 7 and 8 of USJ-R Junior High School Department.

       1. CHRISTIAN LIFE FORMATION AREA
           To educate young Christians in the faith so that they will become dynamic and effective agents 
       of social transformation, responding in love to the needs of the church and the Filipino society.

       2. ENGLISH AREA
           To develop the students communicative-interactive competence in English for effective 
       citizenship, leadership and community service.

       3. FILIPINO AREA
           Nakapaglilinang sa kasanayang komunikatibo ng mga mag-aaral at mapaigting ang 
       pagpapahalaga sa pagmamahal sa bayan, pamana ng ating lahi at kultura.

       4. TECHNOLOGY AND LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION (TLE) AREA
           To equip the students with the basic technical and practical knowledge and to develop their 
       aesthetic skills thus making them productive and self-sufficient members of the growing society.

       5. MUSIC, ARTS, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, HEALTH (MAPEH) AREA
           To provide students with the basic concepts and activities for the development of sound 
       mind and body and to develop their skills and love for the arts as dependable members and 
       leaders of the society.

       6. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AREA
          To produce students equipped with the basic scientific principles, skills and attitudes 
       to cope with technological advancement and environmental challenges and to act as catalysts 
       for a better life.

       7. SOCIAL STUDIES AREA
          To prepare students for responsible citizenship by exposing them to the different  
       socio-economic and political concepts and environmental issues.

   
2. Academic Support System
    - USJ-R have three programs that related with Academic:
      1. Department Special Program
          The curriculum described by the Department of Education (DepEd) is generally designed for 
      the average learnes
      2. Enrichment Program
          The program is geared towards the further development of particular skills and talents of the            students to motivate the students to get the great intellectual, creative mind and more varieted to          do challenges of their assigmnments and their activities that provided in different areas.
      3. Remedial Program
          The program spesifically to help and facilititate the learning for the students
      found to be achieving below the expected learning competency level acceptable 
      in the different subject areas.

3. Teaching System
    Junior High School of USJ-R started at 7.30 until 3.00 PM, and the first thing they do 
in the morning is Flag ceremony started at 7.30-7.45 and continue with the subjects that they can learn in the class (depends on the schedule every class). The subjects are English, Math, Philippines literature, Christian life hood,  Social, MAPEH (Music, Art, PE, and Health), and the last is Technology. they learnt 4-5 subjects everyday, and the duration for each subject just around 1 hour but if there are any activities or event, they use another schedule namely; schedule F for 45-50 minutes and schedule E for 40 minutes for the duration in the class. After all of the subjects finish, they can continue another activities (if they have no event) like Gee club, Dance Club, MR Club, Basketball Club, Soccer Club, Badminton Club, Computer and Science Club, Instumental Ensemble Club, Volley ball Club, Scout, Chess and Football Club and we call as Extracurricular activities and started at 3.30 PM.

4. Materials and Other Learning Sources
    Junior High School Department have many facilities, such as:
    1. Classroom:
        The teacher always use the technology like LCD, Projector, Microphone and Laptop 
    to support their teaching in the class.
    2. Speech Laboratories
        The teacher use speech labratories when they have event or for oral test of English subject
    3. Four Science Laboratories
        The teacher use the room of labratories for experiment in some subjects such as 
    Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Space, Biology)
   4. Three Computer Laboratories
       The teacher use the room when the students need to use the computer to support 
   their learning process.
  5. Drafting room
  6. Emergency Medical Service (EMS) room
      When the students feel sick, they can use the room to take a rest
  7. AraLink E-Learning room
     The room specifically use to support the learning process that related with English

5. Measurement and Evaluation System
    Evaluation System in Junior High School of  USJ-R devided into 4 parts, such as: Examination about the material that they learnt before, Knowledge of every students, Identification from day by day about their effort and process in every learning process, and last Enumeration whereas process questions use critical thinking from the students thought toward from the topics and every subjects have different criteria as a standard to give the scores for the students.

6. Curriculum
    The Curriculum that USJ-R Junior High School use adheres to the mandate of the Education Department K to 12 and complies with the stipulated learning competences, it is enriched by the inclusion of the Christian life formation for all grades level in Junioh High School of USJ-R to carry out the vision, mission and goals from their instituition to educate the learners in the Catholic faith and manifest it through the lives they live. Regular review and the evaluation of the curriculum is done to make it current, relevant, and responsive to the demands of the 21th Century learners.

7. Teaching plan (of your Majors)
    On their teaching plan as what they have in Philippines curriculum, they don't have these core standard and instantly broken down into specifically learning objectives and it's all based on the curriculum guidance. Their teaching process provides detailed learning resources, varied learning activities and learning assessments.
